The Repairs & Mirrors

After our previous trip the leak needed to be fixed!!!!  I took the caravan into work for a colleague who's more hands on than me to do this. The entrance to the yard with the caravan on the back was tricky..... Ended up smashing a rear jack pad off. (There's always something to sort ouyt I've noticed)  The Seal came from Bailey. £55 worth only to find that the bloody seal wasn't leaking, it was the hinge panel at the top of the glass. A couple of quid on silicone sealant and the leak had been fixed 🙌🙌🙌.  The next task was to then take the caravan to have 2 tyres fitted. (check your dates stamped on the tyres, you only get 5 years on them!!!!)  Left the yard at work, BANG, the other jack pads smashed off. Something didn't seem right with this!!!  Took the caravan to the tyre place and couldn't get into their yard. The caravan was bottoming out on the road the the back.  Mentioned it to colleagues at work who advised the car (Nissan navara) is sat too hig...

The Washout!

Finishing work early ready for our next adventure we pick the van up and head to school to collect 2 very excited children!  Flying down the M180 (well i say flying we stick to the limits so were flying at 60mph)... bang.. wtf was that?! The towing mirror has folded in on itself due to the wind speed and whacked into the window. The bang scared us but now we know its nothing too serious we get the window down and push it back out again! 5 mins later it happened again... then again.. then again! A quick google tells us this is quite common so we make a mental note to look into investing in some better mirrors to try and avoid this happening in the future. We arrive to a very wet and windy site with the 2 terrors desperate to get out and into the van to start our break! On go the waterproofs whilst we quickly get the legs down and finally let the kids escape the car and go into the van! Once inside the van i notice a pool of water on the front windowsill.. oh f**k.... not...

The First Trip!!!!!

We set off excitedly on our first trip with the Caravan to Ingoldmells at the end of April..... Expecting the weather to have turned.... We set off down the M180...... Galeforce winds and howling rain... Brilliant. We arrived having met Amandas uncle just outside as I hadn't a clue where to go. He was helping me set up whilst Amanda took the Terrors away to let us set up in peace.  2 1/2 hours later I got the phone call..... We're coming back 🙈 What I thought would be a 5 min job wasn't..... Caravan levelled, brilliant. Plug in the electrics and nothing coming to the caravan. Spent 15mins shouting and swearing to find that the trip switch wasn't turned on in the cabinet 🙈. Once that was done, connect the water, drain pipe and sort the toilet out. I thought id bought everything I'd need for a set up. Borrowed a watering can from a neighbour who could tell I was a 'newbie'. I then accosted him to help us with the air awning. He had a chuckle with...

Where it all began...!

Weve been camping for many years and in 2020 we decided we were due an upgraded tent for our daughters birthday camping trip. After many weeks of research we decided to go for the outdoor revolution airdale 6 as it just seemed to be the perfect fit for us.  So off we went on our first trip with the new tent, we got to the site and started to get the tent up when we heard a pop. One of the airbeams had popped on its first outing... cue a lot of bad language from the husband and crying from the kids!  We decided to make the best of a bad situation and to not spoil our daughters birthday we stayed for one night and packed up the next day to come home. We contacted the manufacturer who was really helpful in providing a replacement beam for the tent however by this point we had lost faith in the tent and just wanted to find a new solution.  We then discussed how we would love to get a touring caravan for our next adventures. After the initial discussions our research started a...
